P. J. Hoover first fell in love with Greek mythology in sixth grade thanks to the book Mythology by Edith Hamilton. After a fifteen year bout as an electrical engineer designing computer chips for a living, P. J. decided to take her own stab at mythology and started writing books for kids and teens. P. J. is also a member of THE TEXAS SWEETHEARTS & SCOUNDRELS. When not writing, P. J. spends time with her husband and two kids and enjoys practicing Kung Fu, solving Rubik's cubes, and watching Star Trek. Her first novel for teens, Solstice, takes place in a Global Warming future and explores the parallel world of mythology beside our own. Her middle grade fantasy novels, The Emerald Tablet, The Navel of the World, and The Necropolis, chronicle the adventures of a boy who discovers he’s part of two feuding worlds hidden beneath the sea.
Piper from P.J. Hoover's Solstice is here answering a few This or That questions for us today!
So Piper here, from SOLSTICE. If you haven’t read SOLSTICE yet, then what are you waiting for? Where else can you read all about my life and the trials and tribulations of being me? Anyway, thank you so much for asking me to visit your blog! It’s so nice to escape the heat of my world and hang out with your readers!
A This or That list. Perfect. I’ll see how I do :)
Hunger Games or Twilight
HUNGER GAMES. Katniss is tough yet compassionate. I’d want to be her friend.
Telekinesis or Teleporting
TELEPORTING. I could visit anywhere anytime. Telekinesis would only make people lazy.
Night Owl or Early Bird
NIGHT OWL. I love looking out at the night and thinking about who else might be out there. It’s full of such possibilities.
Beach or Mountains
BEACH. There’s the most perfect beach in the Elysian Fields. I spend hours there, walking, picking up shells. It goes on forever.
Coffee or Energy Drink
COFFEE. It feels so much more natural than Energy Drinks.
American Idol or Glee
Neither. These shows aren’t on in my world (which is in the future). Mostly, I just watch the news.
Eggs: Sunny Side Up or Scrambled
SUNNY SIDE UP. There’s something fun about pricking a tiny hole in the yolk and watching it run out.
Nook or Kindle
We don’t have Nook or Kindle. Any reading we do is on our FONs or a tablet version of them. They do everything, sort of like an iPad but even more.
Pizza or Cheeseburgers
PIZZA. With lots of ooey gooey cheese. It’s my second favorite after barbeque.
Be a giant mouse or a tiny giraffe
TINY GIRAFFE. I could sneak around but still see above everything else my size.
Public Embarrassment: Food in your teeth or Trip and Fall
TRIP AND FALL. You do it, and then it’s over. With food in your teeth, it can be hours.
Pool or Ocean
POOL. In my global warming world, water isn’t wasted on pools. They are a luxury beyond anything I ever had growing up.
eBook or Paperback/Hardback
EBOOKS. Paper books are hardly made at all in my future. The use of Earth’s resources for something that can be digital can’t be justified.
Zombies or Vampires
ZOMBIES. I judge everything that dies. Vampires never die, but they prey on others and kill them for their own being. Zombies aren’t in control of their actions, so they can’t be held responsible. Their minds are wiped.
Tv Show or Movie
THE TUBE. Everything comes through on it in my world. There’s almost no distinguishing movies from general shows these days; it’s all the same stream.
Thanks again for letting me chat with you! It’s been so much fun! And thank you for reading about my world!
I loved getting to know you better!
